Funding opportunities specific to Chemistry and Chemical Biology students

Audrey Cameron Academic Excellence Awards (ACAEA) In Chemistry and Chemical Biology

The ACAEA support student research experiences in chemistry and chemical biology, offering 16-week summer positions in the department’s research labs, providing valuable research experience and learning opportunities. 

Expandable List

All undergraduate students in Levels II to IV Honours Chemistry, Honours Chemical Biology, or Honours Sustainable Chemistry programs with a minimum grade point average of 9.0 are eligible to apply.  

In line with the Department’s commitment, to equity, diversity, and inclusive excellence, specific positions within ACAEA are reserved for students belonging to equity deserving groups, such as: 

  • Indigenous students 
  • Students with disabilities 
  • Radicalized minority students (especially youth with Afro-Canadian and Latin American backgrounds) 
  • Students from low-income families and neighbourhoods 
  • Adult learners who are new to post-secondary education 
  • Students from rural communities 
  • Members of the LGBTQ+ community 
  • Students who would not attend post-secondary without additional programs or supports 
  • Students with parents who did not attend post-secondary studies (first-generation university students.

Awarded students will receive the following total wages over 16 weeks (35 hrs/wk):

  • $8400 – students completing level II
  • $8500 – students completing level III
  • $8600 – students completing level IV

Students are encouraged to discuss their application and research projects with a potential supervisor before submission to the Department Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Be aware that supervisors are allowed to support a maximum of two students for summer awards.
