The Office of Undergraduate Research was created to make research an integrated component of the undergraduate experience. We aspire to engage undergraduates in the research enterprise of McMaster University by providing opportunities to
- Explore research options on campus and in the community through connections with interdisciplinary researchers.
- Engage in research to develop real-world, transferable skills & advanced problem-solving skills.
- Elevate opportunities for scholarships, graduate school and career paths.

Keynote Speaker: 1:10pm
Dr. Leyla Soleymani is our keynote speaker. Prof. Soleymani is the Assistant VP research (Commercialization and Entrepreneurship) and Canada Research Chair in Miniaturized Biomedical Devices. Her research addresses the urgent needs of the fields of point-of-care diagnostics and continuous health monitoring, developing new strategies for integrating bio-recognition systems with electrochemical and photoelectrochemical sensors.
Speaker Series: 1: 30pm
A trio of speakers. Dr. Maureen MacDonald (Dean Faculty of Science), Dr. Juliet Daniel (VP Research, Faculty of Science) and Dr. Jim Lyons (Director, OUR) will share their personal research journey highlighting challenges encountered and rewards gained.
Poster Exhibit: 2.30PM
2024 OUR Initiatives: We will share information/details/applications for new OUR initiatives.
2023 Research Projects: Participating students from summer research and CNL programs will present their research.
