In the past, people used a variety of dangerous cosmetics. My lab conducts research on how lead can be absorbed through skin from historical beauty products, and many of the students involved in this work have been undergraduates. I will explain the techniques we use, and the way we analyse the information, and explain how this has allowed us to solve a mystery behind some historical poisonings.
